Grandma Regina

2015 - ILO (International Labour Organization)

A short-length film about the impact of the Basic Social Protection Subsidy created for poor and vulnerable families. We shot the daily activities of grandma Regina, who is a beneficiary of the subsidy and has 1 daughter and 4 grandchildren at her care. The film was financed by the ILO, with the objective of creating debate about the coverage and impact of this subsidy in Mozambique.

“When I receive the subsidy, I feel like I am someone.”
Grandma Regina uses the subsidy to buy food and school uniforms for her grandchildren in school age. She believes the future begins in school.

Between 2010 and 2014, the number of beneficiaries practically doubled. Even so, just 15% of the families is covered and, for those who are, it’s still not enough. We hope that in a near future, the subsidy reaches more poor and vulnerable families.
